Help for Food in Hospital
The Annadanam initiative is a noble effort dedicated to providing free, wholesome meals to the underprivileged attendants of in-patients at government and trust-run hospitals. In many cases, family members travel long distances to accompany loved ones receiving treatment. With limited financial means, they often go hungry or skip meals altogether, prioritizing medical expenses over their own basic needs. This initiative aims to ensure that no one waiting by a hospital bedside has to do so on an empty stomach.
Launched in 2012 by Bhagyanagar Ayyappa Seva Samithi (BASS), Hyderabad, Annadanam began with a simple mission—to serve nutritious food with dignity to those in need. What started as a small act of service has now grown into a well-recognized program, operational in various government and trust-managed hospitals across Telangana.
The program has been widely appreciated by hospital administrators, government officials, and the general public. Encouraged by its positive impact, many hospitals have formally requested the expansion of this service to their facilities. Annadanam has become a symbol of care and support, especially for those facing emotional and financial stress in hospital environments.
Beyond filling empty stomachs, Annadanam restores hope, eases hardship, and brings humanity into healthcare spaces. Every meal served is a reminder that even in the most difficult times, kindness and compassion can make a difference.
How You Can Help
Your support—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness—can help us serve more people, more often, in more locations. Together, we can ensure that no hospital attender goes hungry and every patient has a loved one who is nourished and cared for.
Let’s come together to serve food, share kindness, and support families in their time of need.
Annadanam—because every meal served is a message of hope.
